Why Headshots Cost What They Do

Why Do Headshots Costs That Much?

So, you’re looking for a professional headshot photographer in the Tampa Bay Area and you’re shocked by the price tag. Before you decide that booking a session isn’t right for you, here are a few things you should consider about headshot pricing you’re seeing.

-        Experience Requires Time and Money

Experienced headshot photographers such as Seth Michael Media, have spent years perfecting their photography skills, which is how they’re able produce the professional images they do. Professional headshots aren’t just profile photos either. They need to look professional and tell a story too since your headshot will typically be someones first impression of you in today’s digital age.

Professional headshot photographers also need the right equipment to assist clients. From studio space, cameras and lenses to reflectors and flashes. There is a ton of equipment used to get you that professional looking headshot. Not only is the initial purchase costly, but there are repairs, maintenance, and insurance costs to account for, too.

-        Commuting is Sometimes Required

Often times, Seth Michael Media will need to travel to a specific location for your shoot. (That’s right, we can travel to you as well!). While most headshot sessions take place in the studio, some people prefer their headshot to be taken in their St.Petersburg or Tampa offices. Or maybe even outdoors. To stay competitive, our headshot rates are priced for ‘In Studio’. Meaning, travel is subject to additional costs. Something else that many people forget to consider is the time it takes a photographer to set everything up and answer any questions you might have.

-        Retouching Takes Time

Impressed with the headshots you’ve seen in Seth Michael Media’s portfolio? Well, Most of them didn’t get that way naturally. Some retouching is always required after a photo session, which requires time and effort. Good news though! We include retouching in our pricing!

If you are serious about your personal branding, headshot sessions are a worthwhile investment. What’s more, you only need to update your headshots every 2 – 3 years. And if your budget is tight, there is always the option of scheduling a mini headshot session. You do end up with fewer photos, but the results are still fantastic and your new headshot will get tons of attention!

-        Ready To Book?
Whether it’s your first time booking a professional headshot session or you’ve done it before, Seth Michael Media is here to make you look amazing! Our sessions include coaching so you look natural and expressive in your headshot images.
